Are you looking to move to a town or city in Maine, but also want to get a sense of what the property tax (or mil rate) is? You’ve come to the right place.
I created this page after constantly Googling the rates. The state of Maine publishes this information in a PDF, but wanted to be able to sort by mil rate, county, growth rate, and current mil rate. It’s annoying, but I guess they wanted to test the Puritan work ethic of us New Englanders 😉

It’s pretty fascinating to see the growth rate over the past several years. As many of you probably already know, the mil rate is only one of the equations in determining how much you’d pay in property taxes. The second variable is how much your property is assessed at.
For example, Mount Desert has a low mil rate, but that doesn’t mean the property taxes are cheap on those multi-million dollar homes. Anyways, I hope you enjoy searching through this list.
